Palandri’s Chardonnay legacy continues
27 Nov 2007
Palandri continues to prove itself as a pre-eminent Australian Chardonnay producer with a pair of awards in two distinctly different categories of Chardonnay.
The Palandri Vita Novus Chardonnay 2004 was awarded a Blue Gold at the Sydney International Wine Show, to be presented in March 2008. The Baldivis Estate Chardonnay 2005 by Palandri picked up a silver medal at the International Chardonnay Challenge, held in New Zealand.
Commenting on the awards, Palandri Wines Managing Director Gordon Grant said, “We are always grateful to receive recognition from our industry peers. Both awards confirm our commitment to producing high quality wines across all price points, from our benchmark Vita Novus Chardonnay, through to the Baldivis Estate Chardonnay.”
Ben Roodhouse, Senior Winemaker commented, “When sourcing the fruit from vineyards in the Great Southern and Margaret river regions, we focus on flavour ripeness and the intensity of stone fruit characters on the vine. The Palandri Vita Novus Chardonnay has won Blue Golds for both the 2003 and 2004 vintages, which shows great consistency in our Chardonnays. Both are very stylish wines and have great varietal Chardonnay characteristics.”
The Sydney International, since its inception in 1982, awards wines based not only on superior quality but how they complement food and enhance the dining experience.
The International Chardonnay Challenge focuses on and promotes Chardonnay wine styles from throughout the global wine industry and sets very high standards for entrants. Entries are encouraged direct from the wineries and tastings are limited to 100 wines per day per judge.
“These awards compliment the efforts of our vineyard management and winemaking teams, who continually strive to improve, vintage after vintage, and they deserve to be congratulated for their hard work,” Gordon said.
