2006 Vintage Report The start of the 2006 Vintage was certainly one of the latest ones I have seen during my time at Palandri and from conversations with other winemakers one of the latest they have seen as well. The start was delayed by three to four weeks due to Western Australia having one of its coolest summers slowing down the ripening process. The long, cool ripening period has resulted in wines showing excellent colour and flavour development. The quality of white grapes is high as well as reds from the warmer regions of WA. The early standout varieties for this vintage are Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling as well as Cabernet sauvignon from the Northern regions.
